Roland Rainer plywood stacking chairs – 1956

Designed by Roland Rainer for the Vienna City Hall in Austria – 1956.

Very nice stacking chairs. Plywood birch seat on a black painted beech frame. All chairs have been checked and have new bolts. Easily stack-able!

They came from a church in Rotterdam which no longer exists. But that’s why there’s a small shelve underneath the seat… It’s for a bible. They have been used for over 40 years but still look great. The chairs used to be screwed to each other to form benches. We took them apart and left the small screw holes as is…which only adds to the character.
