6 x Eames DSS orange

DSS (Dining or desk height Sideshell Stacking base) chairs designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1956.
This set of 6 DSS chairs was produced by Herman Miller in 1974.

The stacking base chair debuted in the Herman Miller catalogue in 1955. The catalogue noted: “A comfortable stacking chair made of tough plastic reinforced with glass fibers. Bars on sides of base hook into one another for neat, orderly row arrangements. Side bars index the chairs so that they stack vertically and space the shells to protect them from damage.

All the shells are in excellent condition. All stacking bases show rust underneath the seat…so not really noticeable.
The fiberglass really shows! Orange colour.
All in all in very good condition!
